Straight off the bat Lucky Coq is owned by the same people that own Bimbo’s, and in most aspects the two venues offer a similar experience. Lucky Coq should however be experienced in its own right as it has its own unique take on the theme.

The interior of Lucky Coq is very quirky, relying heavily on the dim lighting and playing heavily on the “Coq” theme (yes the name is intentional). There is also certainly a heavy 1950s theme running through the place with a lot of the furniture true to the era, all of which adds to the feeling that the place doesn’t take its self too seriously. The building its self offers an abundance of nooks and crannies offering a surprisingly large amount of privacy, to relax into and watch the night go by.

The food is certainly a talking point and, like Bimbo’s, it prides itself on its pizza menu and it is certainly worth having one if you are in the mood. The Pizza’s are some of the nicest and simplest in Melbourne, offering different flavours in pizzas to the “usual standard” offered at most places. Beer lovers will also not be disappointed as there is a good range of local beers on tap offering a wide range of flavours to suit all desires.
