Straight off the bat Lucky Coq is owned by the same people that own Bimbo’s, and in most aspects the two venues offer a similar experience. Lucky Coq should however be experienced in its own right as it has its own unique take on the theme. The interior of Lucky Coq is very quirky, relying heavily on the dim lighting and playing heavily on the “Coq” theme (yes the name is intent... MORE

Four. Dollar. Pizzas. What more can I say? Other than four, dollar, GOURMET pizzas! Seriously, I, to this day, cannot imagine how Lucky Coq, sister bar to Fitzroy's trendy Bimbo Deluxe, can actually survive on selling pizzas this good, this cheap. It must be something to do with the crowds, because hell, those tasty pizzas draw and keep them in. The place is always heaving, usually with a younge... MORE

  • Citysearch 2010 - Best in the city WINNER

Editorial Review Citysearch® 2010 Best in the City Winner: Best Cheap and Cheerful! Chapel Street, where Lucky Coq is located, seems to change like the latest fashionable haircut. Serving cheap pizza in an old pub furnished with couches from your Grandma's place, Lucky Coq seemingly has a hairdo that won't go out of fashion. It's not the place you'd go for a fancy dinner; more ... MORE

  • Urban Spoon August 2012 - I EAT TOO MANY PIZZA!!!

Ohhhh dear lord. I love this place! The pizza is so cheap, and it's all bloody delicious. I buy a salad just so I don't feel like a total pig, and even that is pretty damn yummy! Get in at 6ish, grab a couch and a wine/beer, and get that tasty cheap pizza into you at 7pm. Hell - shout all your mates to dinner! It's so cheap! Buy their love at rock bottom prices!!! MORE

  • Your Restaurant Review October 2012

Lucky Coq is the little sister of Brunswick Street institution Bimbo Deluxe, but don't assume it's the quiet one. Nested comfortably between Prahan and Windsor, it's been the pecking ground of Chapel Street's cool set since the dingy Duke of Windsor was ripped apart, refitted and rehabbed into something altogether more chic. Punters come for the bargain pizza and stay for the all-embracing be... Looking for a laidback pub complete with an economical meal and a few games of pool? If you stumble down Chapel Street you will be more likely to find a swanky bar (with swanky prices), or a serious dive, that may be cheap but it certainly ain’t cheerful. So where to visit down Windsor way? The answer is Lucky Coq, nestled conspicuously on the corner of Chapel and High. The sibling establ... MORE
